Sambo's Silent Footsteps

Silent footsteps run rampant through my cerebral corridors
They don hats much like those ancient Spanish Conquistadors
They’re mental conquerors, inhabitants of tenements and settlements
Worlds passed over by satellites and man’s delight for space travel, space flight
If we all sat in silence and turned off the lights some would become uncomfortable
This is exactly where I find myself, uncomfortable
Uncomfortable with myself but you see, my lights are on

Silent footsteps sidestep my newest and most expensive alarm
These footsteps make their way up stairs that lead to a view of the world
We all have access to view the world
But so many close their eyes and their views thus become hidden

If I could run away today, I would
If I could run away tomorrow I would
I’d run straight from the suburbs and straight into the woods
I’d build a tree house that could house my thoughts
Both in the sun and in the rain
I’d build a tree house which would house my thoughts and help to feed my brain
I’d build a tree house atop the canopies which would shield me from the rain
It would shield me from the pain

Silent footsteps run rampant throughout the day and the night
But these footsteps can’t reach the place where my thoughts are housed
And where my brain takes to flight…

I wish I could build a treehouse to shield me from the pain & the rain...

So, I heard a great message about waiting for God's rain (His blessings) when we are feeling overwhelmed and beaten by the world.. it's a great way to think about the pain/s we live with in this world.. feelings that are intensified during those silent moments of contemplation... It made me think of your piece

I really love this piece.. The picture you've included & the words talk about the issue of race and the masks that people have worn in this world as a form of protection. In a way that is different, and yet similar, to the way that all of us where masks to protect ourselves emotionally.. I love this piece gftd1.
it's amazing to read (and hear) your poetry because you express what "theorists" in academia take pages and pages to ramble on in a far less eloquent manner..
